I'm in Rodanthe as I type this, and there's kids everywhere. Probably all tourists like myself, but they're out and about. Traveled to Ocracoke the other day, didn't see any kids playing anywhere. It was kind of creepy in a way.

All this talk about eating a low fat diet is nonsense. Take a gallon of milk. In it's natural state, it's loaded with fat. And people drank it for years with no I'll effects. Then some knucklehead decided to remove the fat, and replace it with sugar. And now we have diabetes running wild.

I was a little on the heavier side, 200 lbs and 5'6" tall eating what I was told was the healthier foods. Then I started to feel like crap, and reading about diets. I've come to the conclusion that eating the way my grandparents and great grandparents ate, would be worth a try. Without doing anything other than changing what I eat, I was able to lose 20 pounds in two months.

On vacation now and eating junk again. Think I gained 20 pounds back, and still didn't get to Pigmans BbQ

I'm not about low fat, just healthy fats, because there is such a thing. I do not pretend that I don't love food.

I just eat in a healthy manner. Refined sugar is terrible, natural sugar isn't so I use honey in my coffee. I buy my milk from the dairy, not the mass produced grocery brand. (Took a bit of a hit on my wallet for that but I know in the long run I'm saving.)

I 100% disagree with diets. Lifestyle change that you can live with is key. I replaced 1 thing at a time to see what works for us and if over time it works well it becomes a permanent fixture. (replaced sour cream with true Greek yogurt, took a bit of getting use to but we did it.)

First, do you GENUINELY want to know for knowledge or are you just asking to see if you can make a laugh of it? I would love to tell people how this works for us but only if you have a real interest to hear it.

This was about additives for food at first.
Now diet in general. And vaccines.
Speaking of fat many plants are high fat content, and very good for you.

I thought I mentioned this earlier ,very much blew my mind.

I ask because if there's some validity to it I'll take it in mind, but if it's something you read on the internet I'll probably do my research just the same and come back with my findings. I like knowing the truth of things, and have changed my mind plenty.

Welp, looks like I’m off to jail. My dog’s nickname is Fat Kid. She earned that name because when we brought her home from the shelter, she never wanted to play with any of the other dogs. She’d just stand on the sidelines watching... like the fat kid in gym class (or in my case, the skinny, non-athletic kid).

Yes. The kids your seeing are likely tourists. ;) If your seeing a lot of them defintely ain't locals. Not down past Pea Island anyhow. They don't have a big year round population. Most of us live on the northern half. Plus our only KOA is right down there if I recall..might be in avon...either way. Lots of kids if there is a KOA.

Welcome to the sandbar! Pass through Manteo, Nags Head or go out via Columbia wave. I might see you. lol. Did you visit Eduardo's taco truck on Ocracoke? Supposed to be pretty good. When I manage to make it that far south I tend to end up at Howard's. Good food, cold beer. My kinda place. You mentioned Pigman's. Good spot. If you haven't already try Sooey's across from the Jockey Ridge(Big sand dunes for you that have never visited). Great ice cream right there at Scoops, and there is a sound access with a beach nearby. Locals love that spot but lots of tourists go there also. Good spot to spend the day if your tired of the beach or they got the red flags up.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

An watch out for the State boys. They love to pull tourists over down that way. County not so much.

Sirscrapntruckalot - Pigman's Bbq. Remember the name, you'll be squeaaaling it later. (anyone who has visited us here has likely seen the commercial or herd the radio ads.)

LOL...I call my beagle the fat man from west Virginia land.

His name is Cash after all. An yes...after Johnny Cash. Started playing on our way back an he broke into his beagle howl/bark thing he does, so we figured he'd like the name.

Though it is fun to yell out randomly..."Cash! Come an get it!".
