I won't do oversize in winter just because of the restrictions, nobody wants to hear what the rate should be

    Os-1a states:

    2.
Over width vehicles and loads shall bear two flags at the widest extremities of the vehicle or load as well as one flag at each corner of the vehicle or load. Warning flags are not required to be displayed on the tractor.

I don’t read that as requiring flags on the front corners of the trailer. “Vehicle” in this case means something like a self propelled crane that is also overwidth.

I flag the rear corners of the trailer, front corners of the truck, 4 corners of the load and the widest part on each side. Never had any hassle in Ohio.

    Tug Toy Thanks this.

Yep, the operations manual gets a little more in depth but even it’s kinda gray. I flag the front corners of the truck, rear corners of the trailer and widest point of the load. I’ve never been bothered and I’ve been through countless DOT inspections and super load inspections, even my little A-hole scale buddy here doesn’t bother me and he’s a stickler.

Nah. He was actually pretty cool. No tickets for not having the corners flagged properly. I was just saying that it could be flagged on the trailer corners, it could be the tractor instead, though.

    cke Thanks this.

Load is 2 light poles, 46ft, 3k lbs each.

I think this is the best way to keep straps tight from trailer flex. My friend says I'm asking for DOT trouble and should have added 2 more 4x4 boards.

What says y'all? Is my way fine? 6 straps total.
