Now for the record. I am aware that anybody can come in here and make any claim they desire. However here is mine! My driving career started just after my discharge from the UASF in late 1980, and continued until I finally gave it up in Dec of 2012. In those years I did drive-a-way, I worked doing repos, I also did some local hauling of caskets and hauled portland cement. However I mostly did OTR. I mostly enjoyed my time as an OTR driver.I did not have to put up with union rules or have to worry about "bidding". I saved my money bought and sold land and over time built up a great portfolio. I think @Chinatown did the same. Today I am not using any form of company retirement or Social Security. I am sure I am making many times over in retirement what the average LTL driver that has retired is making today. Oh also for the record I have been asked several times to come work for some LTL carriers during my active driving career. I was even invited to make an application to one in 2014 to work in safety. Some of us choose to stay OTR because we chose the freedom of general OTR driving. Do LTL drivers make more then general OTR does? heck yes they do. However if I was to start over again knowing what I know today I can't say for a fact that I would not go LTL, however there is a good chance I would NOT.
why the ** do LTL drivers get paid a lot more than everybody else.. Please explain!
