    BTW... I agree, Team driving in a LP as a new driver..... DON'T Do it..... learn as a company employee if you desire to team.

    Or you could drive solo and make half that amount. $5k a week for a leased driver isn't bad as long as you're getting great deals on insurance, fuel, tires and maintenance. But like others have said, if it was that easy everybody would be doing it.

    Stay a company driver. Stay company for at least a year while you learn the business. Keep coming here to TTR and learn some more. Do not do any kind of a lease or lease purchase right out the gate.

    The guy (lease contractor) who is actually responsible to pay all the fixed monthly costs would LOVE to have a somebody do half the work for no part of the additional profits other than a bit of CPM wage. A team lease contract operation better be a husband/wife type situation or both parties better agree on a percentage of revenue is going to pe paid to the secondary party. Otherwise somebody’s getting screwed and I’m pretty sure it’s not the actual lease contractor.

    Do you really have 100% confidence your “partner” has your best interests in mind? Because I’m pretty sure many will see the other as just a way to pay the fixed costs twice as fast each month and nothing else.

    Real quick math. It’s not even $2/mile. $2/mile may sound like a lot to someone that has never had to pay for fuel and maintain a truck, but it’s the bare minimum for the average owner operator, and who wants to be average?

    While they were telling you what you could be grossing, did they tell you would you could possibly be charged every week? If you get a brand new truck, 3 yr lease, how much would a team pay out on average?
    -Lease agreement
    -Maintenance/Escrow account
    -Tire maintenance
    -APU
    -Balloon payment (which you would more than likely choose not to do)
    -Insurance
    -Qualcomm/Peoplenet whatever they use
    -Prepass and toll transponder
    -Fuel card fees
    -Anything else I forgot

    ***Plus fuel

    When you get these numbers, would you mind sharing with the group?

    They are definitely deceiving you. Facts may be correct. But out of context.
    I know a company team driver with Prime can average $1,400 per week. That’s all income to you.
    I know a guy who had a small business. So he understands business. He leased solo with Prime. Was averaging $1,400 personal income per week. That’s after everything paid and set aside for future expenses. I just called him. I’ll let you know how it’s working out for him. Haven’t talked to him in six months.
    Prime does not have a “good” lease.
    If you want to see strong in leasing. Look up Red Viking Trucker. YouTube and website. He has a full service lease in a team. Profiting $2000 per week. Running hard coast to coast.

    You take all the risk THEY take all the profit. Government gets the rest, Either through withholding or taxes on the gross later by you.

    The little bit of pittance left over, if you are lucky to have a dollar to hold... that's your money to live on.

    Not everyone is going to be successful. if or when you do implode, there are 50 more willing to take a stab at it.

    And yes I bought a tractor once in my life time. For that time period I was not a company driver anymore. I had all the expenses coming up that will never go away regardless of if the truck sits or not.

    True, I had an engine give out 8 months ago.... I was given a new company truck, breakdown pay also... Than a tranny problem, breakdown pay and given a new truck.... pros and cons for O/O vs Company.... but,, I never missed a beat in my pay check.

    9-11 destroyed our payroll. But thanks to our savings we kept going rather than go to unemployment. We would never imagine a horrible day like that. But it was very good we had plenty of savings put away. Bin Laden lost if he thought he can stop our truck for 6 weeks due to a common problem like money.
