And this one, of course, was one of those common ones that greets you when you first arrive with "We'll get you out of here quick. Probably by tonight." And you're still there 5 days later.

Is this common at Crete/Shaffer...I got cold feet and cancelled orientation. I later received a call from a fleet manager assigned to Shaffer st the terminal I would be assigned too but also the President of the company (Shaffer) It was awesome too be honest and has never happened before...is this common practice.

No not common at all. Usually you are issued safety points.I have heard, second hand, of them taking money out of your paycheck for large overweight fine.

If you want miles and to be paid above industry average for otr Crete is the place to be

I read in some news article some large company (I forget which one) announcing they contracted an analytic firm to help them figure out why their turnover was so high and they couldn’t keep drivers... obviously it didn’t occur to them to talk the drivers who were leaving and listen to them.

And what do you think the analytic firm is going to do? Sometimes you need an outside perspective. Its like going to couples counseling.

Plus the analytic firm is good at crunching numbers, so if they notice that most drivers are leaving at 9 months, then maybe a targeted action at 8 months will make a difference.

I think the point he was trying to make is that they could simply have done that themselves. I mean... they had to hire an outside consultant to tell them to talk to the drivers who are quitting?

The real problem is that they already know all the reasons drivers leave, and they don't want to address those reasons. So they hired a consulting firm in the hopes of finding some magic solution no one has thought of. Maybe they'll put up some snazzy posters in the driver's lounge. Or maybe they'll hand out free sub sandwiches to the few drivers who happen to be at the terminal that day. Yeah, that'll do it.

This is a bucked up mess working for a mega. Hell if the American people knew the #### big companies do they would ban them from the roads. No #### wonder mega drivers are so grouchy.

Your first three months will be the honeymoon period. It'll be a good time. Enjoy it. Very few grocery warehouses. I never did an Amazon. Mostly drop and hook at Wal Marts and Lowes. But then the three months will be up....and then you'll be with the REAL CCC. Advice--two pieces. Don't sign any forms in orientation that allow them to charge you for damage to the rig. And don't volunteer to do a rig retrieval right out of orientation. Tell them you've gotta run home to take care of something. Hope your pay is higher PER MONTH than mine was.

Plus when they “fire” drivers and sucker 2 random drivers at a terminal to retrieve the truck from that drivers home.
They say the driver is sick or hurt and will you go retrieve his truck.
Then you get there and have to wait as he calls in to find out he’s fired and has to get all his stuff out of the truck.

    Thane and Lonesome Thank this.
