MaxForce DT (the newer 466) 2010 to 2014

    Looking at buying a truck and I know that international had problems in these years. What ive read is that its only for certain engines. I cant find if the DT466 (the maxforce) was part of those problems. Does anybody here run medium duty trucks with these engines? what can i expect out of them.

    We had several Internationals with the MaxForce. They were literally in the shop more than they were on the road. Very poor designed motors. I am not joking when I say I would not take one of those trucks if you gave it too me. We have since started using Freightliner M2's

    I looked into buying a 2012 International around this time last year through Penske. I didn't know anything about these trucks because I haven't been in the market for the past 15 years. I learned very quickly that International of that era is garbage. I wound up looking at Hino. All the owners and drivers I talk to about them all have positive things to say about them. They seem to have hit there stride around 2008-2009 to present day.

    Hino parts can be crazy expensive and not readily available. I do see some with happy customers however.

    My mechanic told me the same thing. The Truck stops out here don't carry the filters either. Fortunately, There are 3 Hino dealers close by,JFK, Central NJ and Philly.
