Anyone drive for these guys? Not looking to switch just interesting how bad it seems to be there. I drive for US Foods and have been hearing from Maine’s drivers, stops we share, and ones that have switched that they’ve been having huge problems with hiring drivers and keeping them. Sign on bonus is up to $12.5k according to their website. Heard they lost Subway to Sysco and are giving up on all accounts North of the Syracuse area in NY starting next week because they aren’t able to handle it. Also rumors they are for sale.

In this day and age, you better be taking care of your drivers because there are other options for everyone. Food service delivery is no joke of a job. If you aren’t being taken care of, there’s no reason to stick around. Hope any drivers and other employees there find their way through if something goes downhill for the company.

JBHunt has either contracted with them to provide capacity, or is bidding for their loads. I was contacted by them to quote a daily rate to hook to their preloaded reefers and run their routes. I've talked to some of their former drivers, but I'd be interested in hearing more about the current state of affairs there.

Wow. So would you be doing the actual deliveries to the restaurants, hospitals, etc, with a dolly down a ramp? Or is this just dropping pallets off at bigger accounts? If it’s actually picking the load from the trailer and running routes, I wouldn’t touch it. If it’s work you aren’t used to, it’s really a ridiculous job with a lot of unknowns, especially when you can’t easily communicate with the customers, salesman, and people routing and loading your truck being an outside operator.

I'd be doing the same job the Maines drivers do. I could hire labor to do the unloading if I choose. The rate I quoted them took all of the above information into account. It wasn't cheap.

Interesting. Let me know how it works out if you end up doing it. I can’t imagine it would be very profitable way for them to make deliveries but desperation times I suppose.

I figured that it was just added capacity for the upcoming holiday season, or a stopgap measure to compensate for the 'driver shortage' but your post made me rethink things. I knew about the $12k 'retention' bonus, but that wasn't surprising knowing how challenging it is to work with Maines and their customers.

So they aren't in Watertown anymore? They bought out CFM a few years back that's how they got into the NNY market. There is another foodservice up here called Renzi but they pay crap wages.
