Trip Dallas, TX to Anchorage, AK

Hi there everyone, just again the will of some people, we maked all the way to Anchorage, sitting at the clients door right now waiting to get unloaded, crossing the Rockies took almost two full days. After waking up in Taylor we got to the Walmart in Grande Prairie, did some more shopping and went to the Yukon border, the permits were $131.15, hope they are good for the return too, from there following Vikingswen advice, get got to Teslin where got a full tank of fuel and a nice shower, met there a driver from Anchorage who get me few nice tips about fuel, border and other things, we rode together to Whitehorse and slept there behind the weight scale.
Yesterday Monday from Whitehorse we went to the US border, paid $13.00 there and went to the scale on Tok were following my new friend advice, did stop before the scale and asked the officer permission to get my tags at the dmv further in the village, he did a level 3 inspection (very nice officer) and let me go with a verbal warning, I did slept only 9:30 minutes the night before and should has been 10 full hours, even if the HOS regulations in Yukon and Alaska, permit you to work 15 hours and sleep 8 plus another 2 hours of brake during the day. Anyway, went well there and got to the DMV where got a trailer tag and a temporary permit for tractor, $370 for both, couldn't get a tractor tag for not having a copy of the last 2290 form with me, a shame but nothing to do about it, so next time will be better prepared.
From there rode all thevwaybto Anchorage with a stop at Sutton to get fuel, $3.21, the cheapest price in Alaska and better than in the Yukon, another hour and a half and arrived at clients door.
I must say that the scenery is beatiful, it did make the trip worth it, but the roads from Haines Junction to just about 50 miles from Anchorage are a junk, they remember me in some parts riding in Russia, and some other part remember me roads from Central and Southamerica, it seems that the permafrost under the road is giving up and they are very uneven, it's a constant up and down and side to side all the time, most of the time the speed was around 50 mph, getting down to 15 by the unpaved places, they are doing construction at the Yukon side and for a strecht of 60 miles the ride is very though. After Tok the way is a completely pos for 80 miles and they don't see to be doing nothing to repaired them.
All in all I do feel sore for the beating that i took in the last two days, first in all the turns and up and downs of the Rockies and after that for the very bad roads the last 600 miles, but you know what they say, no pain, no gain, we got to see Alaska and I am very very happy I did it.
Beating for equipment it's also hard, have to adjust brakes twice, thanks God they have places for brake check just before every steep downhill ride, truck stop functionng the AC, but here is around 60 all day long and after unloading I will go to Freightliner shop to take care of that.
Best part of all, "I found a return load", doesn't pay much but $2.15 a mile to Oregon from here, it's much better than going back empty, I thanks God from here and my friend that I met underway who help me find this load. Will be picking it up tomorrow morning.
Well, that seems to describe pretty much this trip, nothing major happens other than the beating for me and the truck and a chip in my windshield in one of the unpaved stretches, that is even with all the water they sprayed on this places, water keep lose gravel on the road, but make trucks very dirty, looks like I haven't washed the truck in 100 years, but it's normal around here, all the trucks coming from US trough (not many) looks the same. Unloading truck now and going to Freightliner shop to take care of AC later.
Almost forget, we found very little wild life on the road, just some bisons, a linx, and a grisly that was on my wife side and she took a look at it, I didn't, some geese, rabbits and lots of eagles and birds, but we still have to go back so still chance to see some more.

Sorry for not having posted more often, data is not available everywhere, just in big cities like Anchorage.
Sorry about the grammar too, I have never been to the school to learn English, just did it on the fly living in Europe and the US and still make a lot of errors when writing, I do hope that I can make myself understandable and worth your time reading it.

 

Thanks to you all guys, unloading now, load was 264 Samsung 49" tv's for Hilton hotels, got it from speaking with the unloading guys here, they are from Florida like me, just in here for this task, a contract for replacing old tv's on the Hilton hotels.
I know for sure God is on my side, I count on him for everything I do, I know some people don't believe in that but I do, and it's serving me be well so far.

 

When coming in here with a small dog like my chihuahua, be careful of not letting it get far away from you, at the hotel in Teslin i'd stop to get fuel, they warned me about eagles taking small dog before and linxs eating it too, so be careful with that if coming in here with a small dog.
