I watched this a few weeks ago. Thought about posting it here, but was too lazy. What do you guys think about the car hauler after watching the whole video?
What I got from this was that the buyer wanted to roll the car off. Hauler couldn't get it out of park, and wouldn't let the buyer in the car to do it. Then left to make another delivery, and then demanded that the buyer meet him at an IAA site an hour away from the contracted delivery location and pay IAA to unload it with a forklift.
If I were the buyer, I'd have demanded that the broker get the car back to the contracted delivery location.Terry270 Thanks this. -
By all accounts the trucker seems to have gone out of business.

Wow sounds like the driver was a total d head. But thier is always two sides to a story. I'd like to hear the other side. Kinda doubt the shipper was that calm, cool, understanding etc...

This is what happens when amateurs try to haul inops. There is a reason the inop units pay better than running units (usually in a fantasy world LOL). There is extra to know regarding shift lock override, how to cheat them on and off the trailer, etc. That unit should have been able to roll right off.
Besides that, this is why I didn't do salvage on my good trailers, that is what we had 2 and 4 car rollbacks and a Landoll 336 trailer for. The right equipment for the job.DrDieselUSA, BigBob410, Terry270 and 1 other person Thank this. -
My impression customer got used to the wedge trailers which easily roll off any in-op and broker most likely lies said he'd had have forklift unload available. There's a reason he coughed up the extra $ and was so cool calm collected even as far as to take the company name down from the video.

Either way pay for the right job a few hundred more or call a tow truck see how he likes that rate hauling iaa/copart wrecks.

Some of this copart.iaa buyers have no respect whatsover to car haulers and their equipment.this guy is one example,he knew exactly what type of car he bought but didnt do any research to find out how to put it in neutral before the driver gets there.

After Hurricane Katrina I loaded 8 flood cars in Mississippi and took them to a dealer in Milwaukee . This was in December. I get to the guys "dealership " address parked on the shoulder of a busy road. He said he'd meet me there just let him know about when I'd be arriving. He does just as he said he would. Me being a novice salvage car hauler, I neglected to ask how they were going to take them off the truck. The first words out of his mouth were "put em behind the fence and just leave the keys in em."
Huh? They don't run and drive and I have no idea if there are keys in any of them as they were forked on at the salvage facility. We finally got them off by dragging them with his truck and some chains but he wasn't happy. All of the headlights and tailights were cracked now from the water that was in them freezing. Sorry about your luck buddyDrDieselUSA, class8guy and Hammer166 Thank this.
