Ok wanted to update. They found my drive shafts are out of spec. They have a slight bend in the tube like an arch. Peterbilt is sending out all new driveshafts. Hope this cures my problems. My brand new truck I've never pulled a load with yet has been in shop for 4 weeks now.

I would feel much more comfortable with locally built shafts built and balanced In house opossed to something packaged and shipped.....well you can imagine what a drive shaft has to go through to get from point A to point B truck freight.......just sayin. Not to mention downtime.
Good luck.
Keep us up to speed.Oxbow Thanks this. -
They claim one shaft had had excessive run out. The rep said replace them all for some reason.
By the way my suspension is low air leaf. -
Dana has had some issues on the new shafts. These will be spl250lite. Slipshaft/ hanger bearing setup is new.
I had one with 60 thou runout.speedyk, KB3MMX, snowman_w900 and 4 others Thank this. -

So someone has fallen asleep at the driveshaft assembly machine. So much for quality control. I did hear that some changes were being made to the slip yokes and support bearing from our rep.
Oxbow, SAR and spsauerland Thank this. -
I just wish I could get my truck back. Apparently Dana is behind and my shafts may not arrive for another week. My truck has 1,000 miles on it and haven’t pulled the first load. It has been at dealer now for almost 5 weeks.

New shaft pic below.
They switched to an outboard slip shaft. Center u joint is held in place by c clips instead of bolts/ straps. Front shaft is very light. Rear shaft is heavier then a normal shaft and a bit of a bear to install. Slip shaft flops around and is keyed to only go on in phase.
The old u joint design seemed easier to service. Not sure how good c clips will be in 5+ years after they rust in.
Your truck should still be fine to drive. Vibration starts at 80km and is usually gone by 100 or 110km.
Wait times can be long on new shafts as they make them in a pair.
Once they are on, it will be like floating on a cloud!!
KB3MMX, snowman_w900, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -
I see non replaceable u- joints like automotive uses in our not to distant future.KB3MMX, snowman_w900, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
