I've been looking at moving to Valley Transportation in Ashland, OH. They are a small (125 tractors) operation that haul steel coil, aluminum, etc., flatbed loads using conestoga and covered wagons. Home every weekend (Friday evening - Sunday night/Monday am), nice looking equipment. Small, family run business. Anyone currently driving or recently drove for them who will offer opinions, pro's and cons?

Never driven for them, but hauling coils was never fun for me. Usually it’s long wait times at steel mills. Personally I don’t want anything to do with hauling steel. But some guys seem to dig it.

I like hauling steel better than anything else, wait times depend on customer mainly....

Ive never worked for them, I know a few who have (within the past 5 years).

They wouldn't be on my list if I were looking, even if I wanted to haul steel.

Maverick wouldn't be on my list either, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Maverick over Valley.

You stated "they wouldn't be on my list", yet you give no reasons why. What was the point of your reply?

Id take it as he has experience steel hauling, and has knowledge of their reputation.

I know people who have worked for them. They no longer work for them. They told me why they left.

In other words, I said that I wouldn't want to work for them, based on information from people who have.

I'm not going to list the reasons on a public forum, since I haven't worked there myself. But I think I know enough to give someone a heads up , to check into it further before jumping.

So, you can either check into it further,,, or maybe just go for it? Maybe you'll like it :)
