Actually all the major tire manufacturers have tire plants all over the World, including China.

It wouldn't be cost effective to have Bridgestone (for example), make all their tires in the USA and then ship them all over the World.

I've seen the popular Bridgestone M710 drive tire labeled Made in Thailand, and have seen them also labeled Made in the USA, with no difference in quality or tire wear.

 

How do you know they were cheap tires? For all we know that could be the only plant that makes to tires specified. Likely a unique tire size that are the run flat type of tire.

Chinese labor is getting too expensive so a lot of multi nationals are heading to Thailand and other SEA countries.

 

Actually Thailand has the worlds number one natural rubber production. Shipping of raw product combined with cheap labor does make for the least expensive product yes. This is something that is very much has to be on spec. If it fails for material or design reasons, it's on the DOD as they specified all that.

My point though was that just because it's made in $Country, doesn't mean it's junk.

There are hardly any truck tires made in the US anymore. The american companies make just enough they can continue saying they make tires here but the bulk of their tires are made elsewhere.
