    Shame on PAM
Shame on all these companies that do the trainer team thing.

I did the same thing with swift and I tell you this, I felt uncomfortable because I was FORCED to drive all through the night with excess fatigue. Numerous occasions I said IM tired and my trainer said push on.

These companies put the pressure on with no regard to our safety. Enough

    This #### should be stopped.
    These companies are ####ing greedy.

    Enough!!!

Being at PAM for 11 years isn’t exactly something to cheer about when there are much better companies out there.
That company is nicknamed “Poverty And Malnourishment” for a reason.. Plus you don’t know that young lady’s experience with the company.

By federal law NO company is supposed to run team as mentor/student. The mentor is supposed to be in the passenger seat "on duty" while the student is driving.
Obviously DOT doesn't crack down on this enough.

At least one company has an exemption from FMCSA that allows trainee to drive, while trainer is in sleeper, if trainee has passed CDL test but not got actual physical license yet. They recently asked that this exemption be renewed.

    Not exactly.

Cdl permit holders must have a cdl driver in the right hand seat.

If a permit holder has passed the cdl test and is reroute to their home state to acquire the license, then a company may obtain a waiver to run as a team.

Once a trainee has their cdl there is no governmental restriction on how they run, outside of the hos of course.

The trainee in question would have already had their license at the time of the wreck.

The truck would get 30-32 CPM, that would be split in half for each driver.

The real tragedy here is that they only require their trainers to have 6 months experience.

But how many drivers with 5 years experience want to be trainers?

So that only leaves new drivers to train...

The brand new drivers go to driving school to get their CDL before a trainer picks them up.
    ,
Which means they can drive a truck all alone if they want to, but training company’s send the new driver out with a trainer to teach them the basics.

I went to the dr a couple days ago because I haven’t been in about 6 years. I got a note saying I could return to work with no restrictions & nothing was prescribed as a result I was put on a 30 day medical hold (no pay) & had to rent a moving truck to pack up my stuff & drive 6 hours to stay with a friend (deceased driver’s mother) until I can go back to work. This took my entire paycheck & I’m still trying to help her with groceries & fuel. Very difficult and disappointed. I’m being punished for using my benefits that I pay into! Currently seeking employment with a new company & having issues because I’m under contract & they won’t release my drivers skills certification (I don’t even know what that is). Why is my valid cdl & clean mvr not enough?

There's nothing preventing you from driving for another company. Since you haven't completed your year yet, your other choices will most likely be starter companies, which may or ma not be worse than PAM.

The certification is equivalent to a 160 hour course.
Some companies may or may not require one.

They can sue you for the remainder of your schools contracted tuition and they can garnish it from your future wages.
You are obligated to pay 1/3rd of that over a year, so you may be on the hook for $2000.00 - $3500.00, depending on when you decide to quit.
