Yes that is wrong.
Everyone is correct, the chains must be crossed but then the cable goes into any hole in your hitch and then use a pin to keep it in place.
I kinda thought we might get points.

Got inspected at a weigh station in VA. First time in 15 yrs. Thankfully the officer was super helpful and knowledgeable. It must have been hot shot day at the weigh station. I did get a warning I gess you would call it but he explained everything and gave me a paper that I had to sign and send it that I fixed the problem. The problem... the brake away cable is not allowed to be connected to the chains on a gooseneck, it has to be connected to your hitch. Never knew that. So he put an orange sticker on my passenger side window with an 8 on it. He said it will let all weigh stations know that I have been inspected. I do do paper logs. I am guessing the 8 is for 8 days in 30? But not sure. Anyone else know?

I can't believe that in 15 years you have never been pulled in for an inspection! You must have some crazy luck.

15 is a long time.
I went from 2004 til 2013 without so much as a level 3.

American Canyon Ca. scales in 80 near Sacramento got me in 04 level 1.

The next one was in Washington State in '13.

Then the flood gate opened.

I got it about 4-5 times a year.. until now.
It's been a solid 12mos since Billings MT got me last year.

Never failed one in 30 years.
Knock on wood.
