So, as an o/o I've been bringing my truck home for the last 5 years as have several of my neighbors who are also drivers. We live in a rural subdivision, we all have 5 acres so this isn't tract housing. Neighborhood is nearly 40 years old, but this last week, the county slapped up weight restrictions onto every road leading to our houses. These are dirt roads with no bridges so, what is it we're suddenly hurting? I'm calling them tomorrow to see what's up. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

    NightWind and Oldironfan Thank this.

Should have gone to your town/township meetings.
I'm sure it was posted on some agenda somewhere.
Usually all ordinance changes are debated first.
Probably one or more of your neighbors don't like those trucks parked in the neighborhood.

I have read about the same in these forums.

    Good luck

Most people don’t subscribe to our local newspaper and they have no idea what’s going on until it’s too late.
    I think it’s funny.

Sounds like a serious case of whining ### ##### neighbors to me, cut the muffler off everything you own to make their miserable existence worse.

Our roads & bridges commission announced nothing. This isn't our town, it is the county. Being around for county meetings is pretty impractical as an OTR driver. I'm sure it was some busybody who got offended they got behind one of us one morning. We all park our trucks well off the road, but given how skeezy our county has been about things in recent years, I'm not particularly optimistic.

Their announcements haven't been updated since April 2017, for Pete's sake .

    Welcome to YuppieVille Country.

Their invading every rural country area and turning them into Deed restricted neighborhoods.

I have been back from Florida in Michigan the last 2 years staying with friends in the same rural area I grew up farming in 35 years ago.

It's still rural. It still has most of the undeveloped land and old farms.

First trucking job I was offered up here wanted me to take the truck home on my home time.

Looked for an area within 10 miles to park it.

Spent a whole day searching, calling, getting out talking with people.

No SEMIS is the new Agenda in neighborhoods.

This is a convenant controlled subdivision, but I made ###### sure to comb through the covenants before I got my authority to ensure there were no rules regarding commercial vehicles. The roads leading here that go to other subdivisions ARE NOT restricted. I can get within 1/4 mile of my house before I hit one of the signs well off the main road. It's obviously someone in this subdivision specifically who got this done.

If you can find out who you can always have neighborhood wars, you know complain they don't keep the grass short enough, their house looks like crap driving down everybody's property value, that sort of fun.
