this concept that if you haven't been driving current for the last year, some how you are inept, is a crock!! in no other industry is experience scoffed at. all in the name of some insurance under writer.i too tire of the same speech by so called recruiters. i could have gotten 3 jobs the other day except that i didnt have 2 years current experience! this is ridiculous!

Basically, there using that as a means to try to get you to one of the mill schools, so they can make even more money on you.. Good luck, with those kinds of accident miles I would hire you in a minute if I had my own company..:biggrin_25525:

I got Laid off too... Probably from the same place (Morenci) I know a guy looking for a driver. I tried like hell to get hired on with him, but my record is bad. (The only reason I got a job at FMI) I even mentioned you to him, I asked if it mattered if a guy had been off the road for a year and a half, and he said insurance doesnt care, as long as you have kept CDL Current, they have no clue what you been doing for the last 1 1/2 years, and could care less. email me at williamcrotts gmail if you wanna chat about it.

I appreciate that hook-up, but I already started a new job on 2/19. I'm now installing satellite dishes for Dish Network.

The starting pay isn't that great, but it's a job and I'm done with OTR driving and the endless BS.

I'll probably keep my CDL just in case, but hope to never have to use it again.

It's not the trucking companies, it's their insurance company that makes the rules.

I am going to hate myself for saying this...

Did you try Schneider? They have a school especially for situations like this. Its not the trucking co its the insurance that is your issue. Go to their snazzy school which is closed to newbies now, and get a stupid cert and boom good to go.

Oh, I know (they are the bulk of, but by no means all of, the problem) ... and my post still applies.

Well Good... Hope that works out for ya... I am trying to find a non trucking job myself, I might stay working here 20-30 hours a week, but the "higher ups" havent made there decision yet. Better than unemployment I guess. It will be december 2010 before I can get back in a truck.
