That's interesting. I live and operate in OR/WA. I go through the scales countless times every month, including the Ashland & Woodburn port of entry locations.
I was pulled around for a level 2 last week for the first time in years. The inspector was really cool, a genuinely nice guy.
I thought he was going to question my consistent use of pc. However, not a word about it He gave an atta boy with a clean bill of health.

Same deal here. We go through both the Ashland and KFalls scales a lot. Never had any problem with either one of them.
We won't mention Cordelia. I keep hoping for a mini earthquake and having Cordelia disappear into a giant sink hole. -
Cordelia is a training center which is why it sucks.

The rest of the truck and trailer was fine but the defaced reflector kept us from getting a sticker that day.

I liked to pick on med-ford a little bit. Ultimately nothing bad happened there. The main they wanted was to be sure I had a red Oregon tag on that tractor. Not all FFE trucks had those.
I can think of other scales around the USA where your chances of being fined for something has gone up quite a bit just for showing up. I don't mind VA police picking on me for a 70 foot vehicle on US15. That's a minor annoyance rather than a potential for a really bad result in say Dumfries. It's business. Choose the lowest cost risk path and follow it. -
You need to google attorneys in Fresno that no cdl laws and know the prosecutor. He can work you a better deal plus he knows the DA already.
