Unfortunately, my second month I took off 15 days straight, but those last 15 days I still did right around $19,000 in revenue, about $15,000 profit.

This third month put up $24,000 with 10 days off.

I'm guestimating $300,000-$350,000 more or less for the 1st year.

Best thing about being an owner operator for me is taking off as long as I want, and working when I feel like it.

Insurance was $17,000 for the year, and already paid it in full after my first month and a half in profits. Truck is paid for in full, with 500,000 aftermarket warranty, just in case.

So you know guys that are clearing over $700,000 yearly as solo ( Specialized Freight ) haulers?

How come every time I hear someone say they are making an obnoxious amount of money, they make sure to say they know guys making even more money? That never fails....

The highest grossing revenue Owner Operator I know did $550,000 last year hauling specialized off around 59,000 miles for the year. He only works around 8 months a year, takes the winter time off. Had he never shown me his taxes last year, I would have called BS on him.

The only advice he told me, was to do specialized freight so that your always in high demand, and can name your price, not the other way around.

I met him while I was fueling, and saw his weird looking trailer and next thing you know we talked a few hours.

I thought he hauled boats, turns out he does oil field tank moves.

He showed me the current load he was deadheading to pick up. Deadhead was 179 miles. Load was only 98 miles, and ratecon had $6500 on it. He told me the broker has him booked out for the next 6 months already. I was still a Lease Operator with Celadon when I met him.

The name on the side of his truck was...Specialized Carriers.

So my advice, and I'm still working on getting there in the next 6 months, is to specialize as well. I'm about 90% certain I want to do medical supplies with a reefer at this point. Just need to get my hooked up with the right broker's to get me foot in the door.

I met an O/O last yr had a load of oil field pipe paying $6500 for 200 miles. Said he could show me the paperwork. I said I’d like to see that!! He showed me an invoice for the price of the pipe itself. He says “ ain’t that some s###? I agreed it sure was!!!

I have been a lease driver for almost 8 months and my average is 17 K per month to the truck. I only work 24 or 25 days a month and only run the I-5 corridor. I am sure there's ways to make that type of money but most likely not with General Freight. Besides anybody that's going to hold back your first two weeks of pay that is BS.
