Last year the northeast saw highs in the teens for 2 weeks straight. That’s not my definition of global warming.

    #### that’s warm. The guys I worked with were serious hunters, and said Cabelas had some of the best winter bags. It would be wise to have a bag rated for the worst possible temperatures you may get stranded in. Would suck to freeze to death in a cheap Walmart bag if you wound up stuck somewhere alone with gelled fuel, or something similar.

Layering. Inexpensive walmart bag then get a zippered fleece blanket bag ($15) that fits inside. Fleece washes and dries quickly and keeps outer bag from getting stinky.

Keep some wide candles in the truck. Of course you would need to be careful. But as a last resort, they will provide some reliable warmth and light. They are relatively inexpensive, and easy to store.
Just one more backup to help mitigate a critical situation.

2 cheaper bags can be doubled up when it is really cold; keep one rolled up 'just in case' one doesn't work...

Polar-guard is a great filling material, I have a North Face 'cat's meow' polar guard mummy that is 25 - 30 years old.it packs tight and is washable without any of the problems like down, in a life threatening situation it will keep you warn when it is wet...

I bought it at Hermans [We were Sports] for $119.00 and the now go for 2x that much but it's been backpacking, multiple trips to hunting camp and survived two daughters sleepovers...you do get what you pay for.

Get a cheap Walmart sleeping bag $30 and a $20 "bivy bag". The bivy bag is like a sleeping bag made out of a mylar space blanket, (those cost about $1 each). The 2 combined, inside the truck, will provide emergency warmth for less than what you will spend on a "sleep system" recommended by people that dream of sleeping on top of Mt Everest.

I would recommend putting your effort into finding a company that won't expect you to sit in a broken down truck for days to avoid paying for your hotel.

You aren't going to be sleeping outside in a tent. You MIGHT be in a wind-proof truck sleeper during very cold weather.

    Just passing by Thanks this.
