I have stumbled upon a local pallet manufacturer that is in need of a 1 ton and gooseneck for local delivery only, I am not sure but from talking with the driver of the only big truck all loads are within a 50 mile radius.
The question: Looking for feedback on pricing my truck and trailer to this place, should I use a flat rate price or go by the hour? Are pallets worth the haul?
The current driving that I do now nets me anywhere between 3 and 5 dollars per mile but most always includes a night or two on the road.

How many loads in a day, how many hrs will it take? What's your average daily gross? If you're spending a couple of nights on the road and you have wife and kids maybe take less maybe not for some family time. Negotiate, know your numbers.

Should be meeting with them next week when the owner gets back from vacation, my current status is retired and I do the LTL/Hotshot stuff for a little extra play money. I will post up after the meeting in case anyone else should need a little info on pallets.colorado18spd and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
Pallets are not that expensive.
If a forklift unloads you in a few minutes make a flat rate sufficient to twice minimum wage per hour plus 50 dollars securement all together in a nice number.
If you have to throw pallets, make it by the hour and then sprout a slightly larger number. Tell them that a forklift at the customer will reduce it somewhat.
Im pretty sure that pallets are repeatable. They make more, you take another load down. If you are reliable, you will have plenty. Any problems you aint.Lite bug Thanks this. -
Holding true to my word of giving an update. Went back and talked with the owner after he had returned from being on vacation, he listened with interest but we did not talk any money because he has decide to try to keep things covered in house with his nice shiny dually and gooseneck trailer sitting on the side lot. He said that he would give me a call if he can't keep up with the loads. I don't think that I will be getting any business at this location for some time.
