Somebody has a scale ticket, either the quarry and/or the driver....it wouldn't be hard to put a hard number on the weight. Anytime you're hauling a commodity that pays by the ton, you can bet somebody is keeping track of how much is loaded.

Now maybe to answer a few questions.
I drive local and see this gent in several of the places I load. He likes to call himself "THE TRUCKING GURU". No Joke. His dad owns a small sawmill about 10 miles south of town. Dad owns the truck and trailer. The operator of this vehicle told that he received no ticket. I did not feel the need to contact any local, county, state, federal officials to confirm this. I took the operator at his word. There was a city policeman directly behind him, when the calamity happened. The officer, according to the operator, said he felt sorry for all the damage to his truck and was going to forgo a ticket. I didn't get the chance to shoot any photos, as i was in VA at the time of the event. Friends and colleagues shared the photos with me. Complain to them if you think the quality/subject manner needs work. The load was 8 bundles of 2x12x16 front and rear for a total of 16. they were loaded that way at the request of the operator. He told the loader that he didn't like to stretch out the load, 5-5-6, because he had to throw an additional strap. This is the second time he has thrashed this trailer. The first time he made a left turn out of the shipper's drive and the center section fell over on the ribs of the curtain. Broke three ribs on the cover, and had to replace 3 or 4 sections of tarp. Better part of a day to unload the trailer. Hope this clears up any confusion.

saw a great one the other day, couldn't get a picture

flatbed, with a load of shingles on (typical from the plant shingles)

nice straps, one on each set of pallets

NOT TIGHTENED DOWN, just flapping away in the wind (of 65mph)

Like the driver put them in the winches and forgot to go back and tighten them up

hope he didn't have to stop fast.
