If i’m empty i’ll join the party in the wyoming left lane, but if i’m driving through there loaded I won’t do more than 65. They have some of the worst drivers except for maybe Atlanta and the chicago tollways. all 3 are terrible.

That stretch is always good for a butt pucker when there is a stiff wind. In January 2017 I was heading east toward Denver with a heavy load. The road signs warned all unladen high profile trucks to pull over. You could tell which ones didn't listen. Must have passed 20 trucks on their sides that morning.

I love that view, can you see any houses or cities? Down south of that in N Colorado and the clouds parted for a second. them hills are white now.

I'm east of Wamsutter in the oil fields. No cities nearby but there is a natural gas compressor station just over the horizon that lights up the clouds at night.

I think you mean the 345 mm, just west of Cheyenne, saw that Friday afternoon heading back to Denver.

Don't get me wrong, I love driving through Wyoming, I'm used to the wind, and I'm the first to shut it down, I've been blown over. Heck, any time I'm going to Wyoming with anything other than a 20' container on a 3 axle chassis, I check the wind reports. I just can't believe how bad the driving was.

As I said in another post, I think this is the worst stretch of interstate in the country during the winter. Trucks.and cars go way too fast, the road is frequently covered in a sheet of ice, you get whited out when trucks pass, the wind often gets over.40 plus, long stretches of downgrades. It all makes for a very dangerous driving environment.

40 mph wind is just a breeze in WY!!! I have zero problems running in 40 to 50 mph winds... 50 to 60 gets a little spooky... 60 to 70 I tried that once, NEVER again.

I run I80 across WY every week... Most weeks twice. You just got to be on the ball and watch what the weather is doing, and watch anything out in front of you that the wind can move... This will help you know what you are coming into.
