So I just recently started trucking, about a month ago. So far I have been loving every minute of it. Then I screwed up today and am not sure what’s going to happen or what I’m going to do. I took a turn in a tight street to narrow and hit a high curb with the back tired of the trailer. The tire popped off the rim which caused the rim to bend in.

I’m waiting for it to be repaired now and don’t know yet if I’m going to be fired from my job. If they choose to fire me am I totally screwed? Will this go on my record and stop me from being able to find another job? I’m just really bummed and scared about this right now. I feel like I just ruined my career and don’t know what to do from here.

Learn from it and watch those turns. You may not be fired, but the next time it happens you will.
Tires and rims are very expensive, plus a road call, costs the company a lot of money.
If you're fired, we'll help you find another job.
Where is your location; state & nearest city.

you can be fired, you can be suspended.....you can be horse whipped.

you might have to sit thru safety class.

they might make you go back out with a trainer

you should NOT have to pay a dime, however...

but YOU WILL BE DAC'd for either an accident OR incident, depending on the dollar value of this.

any new job you get, you should jot that down on the application, as it WILL BE on your file.

let us know, what happens next

    good luck

I’m in Roanoke Virginia. I know how expensive it can be. I feel really stupid about the whole deal. It shouldn’t have happened and I could have done better.

If you're with a "starter company", for example, Werner, US Xpress, Swift, Stevens Trans, USA Truck, or etc. Then you're fine.... To get fired from any one of those "starter companies" you would really need to break ALOT before they let you go. If bending a rim is the ONLY thing you do at that company, then they should buy you a steak dinner.

Here is some advice I wish someone told me when I first started. ---- You are going to make mistakes, you are going to hit things, and there will be days where you can't hit the dock, even it's a straight back. Take a breathe, and realize that you're OK, and that as long as you learn from your mistakes, then you're doing the right thing.

All companies have to have a file of oops on you for when they have no use for you anymore so they can let you go. Learn from it and do not do it again, with all the miles and conditions it is to be expected so relax, get it fixed and keep you eye out for your next company.

Don't be like me. Breaking whole curbs. IF you are going to break something, don't break the truck please.
