TM I spoke with said he'd lost some good drivers for momentary lapses. The DFC is used for real, any swerving resulting from reaching for something is potentially fire able.

Wow, that's insane..that was a pretty big location. Did they lose some big accounts or just couldn't retain drivers? Out of our orientation class of 16, only about 6 made it.

Well, if it’s that Nazi then I have a back up plan. Mclane will take me back in a heartbeat. Also once your in LTL even being fired another LTL will pick you up in my area. Just as long as you don’t get in a accident. Maybe OD won’t look at you but Estes, R&L, YRC, and Reddaway are pretty desperate even in the winter. Estes is having open interviews job fair in ALL positions here if that’s a indicator. I saw the other day a O/O day cab peddling the city for Big E. They must of picked up a big account. They called me and a friend of mine. My buddy doesn’t have a hazmat they told him go get it and call them back ASAP to setup a interview.

Neither business was cut rate and doing work at and below cost isn’t real good for the finance book.

They actually were fully staffed and metting all the production numbers when they got the plug pulled on them.

    Bwahhhhh!

Long heavy long day full of delays. I try so hard, but at last sometimes it doesn't come to fruition. I do some chain restaurants on Friday and the one chain signed a prime vendor agreement with us, because they like our service better then Sysco and they a sister chain of there's also recently started buying more from us and less from Sysco. The one place I thought at 8:30am they would be there and they weren't because the one guy had off so that was 1/2 hour down the drain. Just stupid delays all day long.

Anyhow, lots of heavy stops today only had 11 stops, but in between waiting for places to open (what?) and 2 hour unload at a local high school that went for 5600lbs and then getting to my last school of the day way late in the day having to wait till almost 3:00pm for the cars to clear out it was a looonnnngggg day long and heavy. 266 cases at the high school, 197 cases at one of our company grocery stores and then like 50 cases at my last stop. It was long and heavy.

Got on the highway to get back to the yard I-480 and 271 merge backed up from Cedar Road all the way to the Airport took me an hour to go 10 miles. Just dumb stuff like that. Pretty much ran the 14 hour clock down to 1/2 an hour. The thing yelled at me for not taking a 1/2 hour break, but by that time I was already back in the yard anyhow so that thing can go screw it's self it's not relevant once I'm back in the yard.

Enjoying the cool quiet weather right now. Just sitting here in my office right now, it's nice and quite here after all day of the noise and traffic it's nice to have some peace and quiet.

My day was pretty easy Today did mostly deliveries to Lowes DC. First 2 was rails and then sets for the rest of the day. Those ######## are taking forever to unload our trailers so each time I went there I had to bobtail back home. No wonder we don't have any empty pups.. oh well

Then at the end of the day I went to city dispatch office and saw that I'm scheduled for Mclane on Monday yikes facepalm.gif

    Ok, fatherly advice here
    DON'T FOUL UP YOUR LOGS

be aggressive in your interpretation of the rules

Look, the truck is taking a break (cuz if it moves, you lose your break), so, while the magic elves unload your truck, you let your truck have a 30 minute break. Everyone is good

the job gets done, you get to go home and your logs are fine
no one asks questions. It's like the good taco truck. Just eat it, don't ask what's in it.

Just look at the correct and no violation logs, don't ask how it happened.

That's good advice. If you are out of your truck anyway and short on hours, then just take your lunch while the truck takes a nap.
