Ya I'm going to be switching. Indiana used to do it differently but not so anymore.

Penske plated out of Indiana. Only need one plate for the front on a tractor, or one plate for the back on a straight truck.

I got Maine tags, my trailer dont know what maine look like. Registration $100 for 7 yrs no sales tax and you dont need an address in Maine to register there.

It used to be, may still be, that Indiana was the only state that offered corporate branded license plates. They're theft proof because they have the company logo on them right on the plate. Now if it's just a plain plate, not sure why they would register them here.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

I live in Ill and my truck is registered here, but all 2 of my trailers are registered to maine and 1 is in wisconsin. Aren’t all U-Haul’s registered in Arizona?

U-Haul’s corporate office is located in Arizona. Only the trucks/vans are registered in AZ, the trailers are registered in various states because they are owned by the franchisees. The trucks and vans are owned by the corporation itself.

Even when I lived in New Mexico, I started registering my trailers in Alaska, no tax. permanate plate for 30 bucks, no other fees.
They used to do it by mail, I do not know if they still do or not.

    bzinger Thanks this.
