Got through the initial process, have a conditional acceptance letter, and will be flying to Laurens SC to do pretrip, road test, and onboarding before returning home to work with a mentor/ trainer at my home DC in Bentonville. I've been a long time lurker around these forums, so I'm aware I need to bone up on my pretrip, but are there any other "gotchas" I should be aware of, either in general or specifically in relation to this DC. I'd hate to head out there just to be turned around to go back home because I wasn't completely ready. I really don't want to tuck my tail between my legs and come home tell folks I didn't get accepted. Thanks!

    1. Make sure the truck is well fumigated for bed bugs before you head out.
    2. Don't just sit anywhere at the driver's appreciation cookout.
    3. Don't talk to drivers wearing WalMart Belt Buckles unless they talk to you first.
    4. Most importantly, always WATCH FOR FALLING PRICES!!!

Best advice i can give you for pretrip is to do it how you would to get your cdl. There's videos online of exactly how you should call out the parts of the truck you are inspecting and the nomenclature. The school crst uses for their cdl permit holders going for their cdl is a great example. I watched that a few times before i did my pretrip at the spring valley dc and passed 100%. I was already very comfortable with my driving and also passed 100%. They will not try to make you nervous during the process. They just want to see you can do the job safely, correctly, and without supervision.

I don’t think there is a 100% serious wal mart thread anywhere on this forum.

There absolutely could be if we had enough cages to hold the trolls in.

I've been watching the pretrip videos, reminding myself of the "properly mounted and secured" and all the other verbiage that I last said out loud a little over 14 years ago. I think that is the part that scares me the most... been looking at it for so long but not saying a word about it (heck folks sometimes ask me what's wrong when my hood is up, then give me a funny look when I tell them im just checking things out!). I'm not too concerned with the driving... just got to get my mind to quit doubting and just remind myself that I can do it. Thanks for all the tips... even the ones that I might take with a grain of salt

I can’t believe Wal-Mart leads guys to believe that their job is so special anymore. You’re telling me I have to go through hoops just to make .38 cpm and have a camera stare at me? Wow where do I sign up.

Nobody makes 38 cents a mile and there is no driver facing camera.
