Well, um, when my discount doesn't cover what I can get somewhere else, I go somewhere else. I'm not a LS guy, but I'm pretty good with simple math.
    Jus sayin

I want to help my fellow owner operators make the most money that they can. Kevin Rutherford is part of the problem saying how great landstar is ,he sold out for money but I don't blame him because everyone should try to make as much as possible legally

You are not telling the truth. They pay on 100% not 98. 35 to 50 cents fuel discount.

So, I get the 35% of 100% if you're running their trailer. But where does the 98% number come from? Are they charging an extra 2% off the top somewhere?

Kevin Rutherford said super singles save you fuel and he was right they saved me about a half mile per gallon but every time you have a flat it costs thousands for road service and a new rim because yours was destroyed with the weight of the heavy load and a new 1000 dollar tire . So it wipes out by far any fuel saving. Super singles cost me over 10 thousand dollars over a few years with road service fees

When I was there they paid 35% of 98% and never mentioned where the 2% went

That sounds closer to reality on both counts. The company I am leased to has about the same deal as Landstar, for percentage and fuel discounts. My company is much smaller than Landstar and I routinely find fuel discounted up to $0.55 per gallon. I can fuel anywhere I want.

Sure you will find areas without much discount pricing, but you can fuel at Ma and Pa if you want. I use the Fuelbook app, enter my company code, and the app searches for the cheapest fuel on my route. It's unbelievable that a Landstar owner operator doesn't have access to the same tools or have limited choices of fuel.

I think there's a whole lot more to the story than the, "Landstar dun me wrong" song.

    jsnell Thanks this.

Landstar did me wrong but I was at fault for going to work for them it was my mistake and cost me a lot to learn but with research I was able to find something without bait and switch and other slimy things landstar was doing to me. Im glad that I was able to correct my mistake working with landstar

The Kevin Rutherford starting capitior is great too until you get up north in Minnesota at -10 and your truck doesnt start up quickly the capitor doesn't crank the truck up after a few seconds you are out of luck and paying for more high cost road service . Not trying to be bitter or bash Kevin , everyone needs to make money but I am just telling true stories of my experience to save my fellow owner operators money by not having the same difficult times with these products that I had
