Just asking to share some feedback , advices , experience with product
I'm looking for webasto unit that will preheat coolant and heat the bunk during night ...don't wanna idle because it's not healthy for the engine , would like preheat coolant for easy and harmless winter starts .
I see the unit on eBay selling for around 2300$ ...how hard is install if anyone did it by themselves , I can probably do it with good instructions .
Anyway pls share

Great units love mine, I didn't install just operate. Check out u tube for install videos. Anyway good luck with it.
pavrom Thanks this. -
One problem comes from the fuel filter. It really does need to be mounted horizontally level. Air bubbles can accumulate and hinder fuel flow if it isn't. Strange problem.

I just installed an Espar in my truck. I chose them because I’ve heard from several people that Webasto has had some issues, and their customer service isn’t great. I will tell you that having the little diesel heater put in is one of the best things I’ve ever done.

I have an espar: many years with it: as long as you keep up on the maintenance: they are awesome!!!
Oxbow and ramblingman Thank this. -
You can get by with an Espar for around $900. Will require cutting hole in floor of sleeper about 5" around, and drilling a 1/2" hole in fuel tank. Very simple to do. Idles all night on a QUART of fuel. A quart. In 10 hours, you just saved 9 1\2 gallons at $3.25 per....do the math.
One thing i do every year, is at the end eo the season (around April as i live in WI) is disconnect the fuel hose from the tank and stick it in a gallon jug of kerosene. Turn the heater on high, and let it run for an hour or two. Keeps it clean.
Ive had the same espar for over 5 years now, havent done anything to it as far as maintance.
Think about it....5 years x 150 days per year x 10 gallons per night....yep, about $25k give or takeChicagoJohn, Oxbow, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
Does the Espar heat the block also or is Wabasto thing only?

Putting one on thinging of having a separate tank and run kerosine. Last one seems would not get through the season without a cleaning.

If you have a block heater, electrical plug in, get a generator and heat the block with it. Then a stand up portable AC unit for summer, pull the passenger seat. Webesto is smaller and uses diesel, but is more spendy.
