I had that happen three times in four hours in NY. Doing a couple stops near each other and on and off the Thruway each time. When I got the bill for running the entire length of the Thruway three times in four hours it was obviously impossible. Call and let them know, there may be an online way to do it also, that was years ago. They have to manually go back and review license plate photos and verify this but it will be done, if I recall it probably took four months.

When you are on the phone with them do not be arrogant or rude, the person on the other end has nothing to do with the rules and has to deal with pissed off people all day long. Make them dislike you by being mean to them will not get your case processed any faster, guaranteed.

I have since switched to BestPass, with HQ in NY so you get the NY EzPass discounts, and all my tolls nationwide are dealt with through one company. It's only getting worse with all these places opting to put in toll roads.

Generally you have to catch it before the next billing cycle to dispute it when dealing w nj ezpass in my experience.
Minimum 30 days before it’s fixed and refunded.

One thing I really don't understand. Is detention. Im sitting here at H.E.B been here for 5 hours getting unloaded. I csll the broker (US Logistics) and say Im still here and I need to know what rate detention is. Ive already looked on the rate con and on the carrier agreement neither of which mentions detention. What I have noticed was on the carrier agreement a late fee charged to the carrier of 150-250 dollars a day can be charged to the carrier for being late. no mention of anything compensating carrier for layover, detention, TONU nothing. I needed to know so I would know how to bill for it I like getting a head start by doing invoices while being unloaded.

So the broker says he doesn't know how much detention will be or if detention will even be paid. He says it all depends. And I asked depends on what? he said it all depends on receiver. He wont know anything till after i deliver and they will send my times to the receiver and they will decide if I get detention or not and how much it will be its different with every carrier. Seriously. Isn't that like walking into a grocery store and deciding what your going to pay for what items and leaving the store our of that decision?

It sounds very shady to me. they usually try to stick you with that crappy 25 per hour after 2 hours max 150 per day after 8 hours. I didn't even get that its all up in the air and nothing I can do about it. They also said H.E.B could just decide not to pay anything if they so chose.

Heb is a notoriously slow receiver. Remember that and factor it into your next load, should you decide to go in there again.

Accessorials should be worked out BEFORE you accept a load AND get them all in writing on the rate con or you won't get paid. Didn't you read your Agreement with them before you signed it? Every Carrier/Broker Agreement I've signed states this. Never trust them to put it on there later either. Do NOT move your truck until you have everything you've negotiated printed on the rate con. You can also add it yourself but MAKE SURE they sign it before you move.

For your current situation it's too late. No way I would sit there for free. Make them put a number that makes you happy on a revised rate con and give them a deadline to have it to you. If they do not oblige put the freight in storage. Be sure to tell them what you're doing and where it's going if you have to take make that last call. They only things you get "stuck" with are the things you fail to do. How long have you been running a business? Seems like you're still thinking like a Driver and not a business owner.

I've tried that I sat for a week cause no broker will agree to anything other then their terms. It's even worse now. I o ly tru in 2 states which have very little freight right now. When u mention snythu g other then their terms they say they will find another carrier

Ive been un business since 2012 never had an issue most of my loads it was running a few brokers exclusively. They were as always fair with me I wasn't worried plus rates were good the brokers that weren't I was making enough to not care. Now bv rates are so low wait times are killing me.

Are you pulling a reefer? Sounds like you might be painting yourself into a corner by only running two states. Many Brokers have freight all over. They don't have to be actually in the state on the lane you need. For every Broker that doesn't pay detention there's at least two more that do. If you haul without getting any sort of accessorials I have to say you're a fool unless you get a rate that is already above average that would cover most of the time wasted at the dock. Try picking up the phone...ALOT until you find something better.

If you aren't getting what you need; why haul it? I'd park the truck before I got raped. That's just me though. To each is own I guess.

I've always done very well running 2 states u used to do 48 then started running la and tx home every weekend. Now I couldn't go back even if I wanted to LA is a rough state for insurance. During one of my renewals they decided to go from 13k a year for one truck to 23k a year for mo reason I have no accidents no tickets and no claims. They said their all going up well they found me one agent th as t could get me 13,500 rate but stipulation 500 mile radius max cant get unlimited. They say there all cracking down in LA and doing this. So yeah
