Should I fight a speeding ticket?

Was there anybody working in the construction zone?
Makes a difference.

 

I fought the law and I won.
Rookie Hwy Patrolman disappeared.
Cost me a thousand dollars in legal fees.
It was worth it.

What is a thousand dollars to a big time trucker? Why that is just tip money.

 

Honestly I have not seen a 60 mph construction zone. Normally they are 55 mph with a speed reduction to 45 mph when workers are present.

For example every week I pick up I 70 West out of Dayton Ohio towards Indianapolis. Heavy construction zone area.

First you get a warning "construction five miles ahead."

About the four mile mark I'll get another warning "reduce speed to 55 mph ahead."

About the three mile mark I'll get a "right lane closed ahead."

Then I'll get a sign that states "hit a construction worker go to prison."

Then about a mile out I will get a digital "read out" telling me my exact speed and a huge digital arrow pointing me to my correct lane.

Sometimes they will even post a trooper at the entry and exit points with their lights flashing.

So I guess I have been given over six warnings over a period of close to six minutes and threatened with a prison sentence if I hit a worker from the state of Indiana. If I missed all that then I probably should not be driving a tractor trailer.

All I can tell you as a new driver is to slow down and be aware of everything around you at all times. You are going to be driving an eighty thousand pound torpedo. I don't know how your prospective company will handle this. A trainer with my company was fired for picking up a ticket for speeding in a construction zone. They take it very serious. Good luck.

 

In mine it doubles. Without predjudice. Or more if it is part of something truly outrageous. That's in ADDITION to the basic fine.
