End dump in the winter couple questions

What are you hauling with the end dump and do you not have a roll-cover?

 

TARP!

 

If you don't have tarp bows I don't know what to tell you because even with rain you would be screwed.

 

Park with the box always up is a good start. Are you just using diesel to spray the box?

 

Are you really fat, really lazy, or just plain afraid of heights???

Metal tarp bows, climb in before loading and remove them to load wagon, Fiberglass can be loaded over top of, but you may have to climb up & knock the material off before tarping.

I’ve watched guys 5’9” 350+lbs climb in & out of dump wagons. If them teletubby’s can do it surely you can manage.

 

The problem with no cover (or wet aggregates) in hard freezing conditions is that the product can tend to freeze solid to the dump bed and this can pose numerous problems, chief of which being a tip-over during high raise lift because the heavy product is frozen and stuck in the nose, now 20 foot in the air. Any un-level dumps can then more easily lead to a tip over due to the weight up high because it can’t fall out.

It all depends on how much water we’re talking about. And how cold and for how long it remains in the dump bed.
