I am generally referring to conducting an inspection. Stepping up to see gauges for ABS, low air, etc. I dont have a problem if a driver gets out and walks back toward my vehicle as long as we step out of traffic.
Stopped by Cop in Alabama I-65

They don't need probable cause to pull you over in a CMV. If they want to do an inspection they can.
colorado18spd, Just passing by and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Just from what I've seen in the last few years...You probably were tailgating like 97% of the "Professionals" out here do. Stop tailgating and use your turn signal and you wont be pulled over, in your mind "for nothing"

They were probably fishing for drugs or drug money or fugitive. I think they get a tip and go crazy searching any Truck that might fit the bill. I once saw that after they had busted a Truck and supposedly were looking for the other contact with the cash. Never saw so many AL Troopers they were everywhere pulling over everyone. They want that money bad.In 14 yrs I’ve been pulled over and asked if I had anyone with me and flashlight into bunk at least 3 times.Twice in La Once in Ms. Physically searched twice in Ms. I asked last Trooper what they were looking for and to my amazement He said mainly Cash and also Drugs. I laughed and said No Cash Here!!! Last time it happened in Ky On I-71 by a County Cop Who obviously was Training a New Female Officer.According to him the only county in Ky with DOT Officers.I don’t trust these Officers. They Usually ask if I own the Truck. I always reply Me and the Bank.I did make a point of saying I know I’m being Targeted and that I’m still in business because I work my ### off. Most of this all happened when things were bad about 8 yrs ago. The idea some had was if you’re still in business must be running something.Last Time was about 3 yrs ago.Pulled over by an unmarked Car and 2 Guys with vague Uniforms, I actually thought I might be getting Jacked , so I asked them who they were?I was almost home and on the border of 2 suburbs. They answered Homeland Security, and said they work through local police.I laughed and said Boy I’ve hit the big time now!! After checking my Log book I asked them if they knew my Nefew an Officer with the Department. Any ways I wouldn’t take it to heart they’re just doing what their Superiors tell them to, but it does make Me mad to be Targeted for any reason

Lol I haul cars cross country, I get pulled over for 2-3 hrs to get searched for drugs 2-3 times a year. Car haulers hauling older vehicles get targeted pretty badly.
shogun, PE_T and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Reasonable suspicion for traffic stop. Not probable cause.

Either way, be able to articulate in court why you stopped a vehicle..better have a good reason. I did that job for over 25 years. That's the way it is here in the USA. In a country like Germany for instance they don't need it. They can stop you and blow you on the breathalyzer just to check you out..and folks complain about police here..redic!!

He was fishing for something. Got stopped in a 4 wheeler going thru Austin a few years ago. He used the following too close excuse. Whole thing was odd. Gave me a warning and let me go.
PE_T Thanks this. -
Yes, had an owner op of mine get stopped two weeks ago in AL. Did a walk around on a haz load and sent him in his way.
PE_T Thanks this.
