Just as someone who has limited third hand experience with Walmarts private fleet.. Everyone I've talked to loves it. The way I figure it, the ones that don't are the ones that can't drive to start with, because management gets on em. But I also know if a Walmart truck breaks down, they pay top dollar to A) get it to a shop fast, B) get it fixed fast, and C) get the load to wherever it's going fast. Key word here fast.

They also do that with any trailer a dedicated driver is pulling. I’ve had nothing but a great experience working at my DC as a dedicated driver.... Love it there...

Yup, seen that too. People are right, that's a mobile billboard for a $6 billion company. If they have to call a tow truck, I've seen them pay twice the normal rate for fast and good. Especially if that trailer has frieght. I've been saying this for a while but Amazon and the likes aren't really competing against Walmart in the online market place. Walmart hasn't stepped up yet.

But think about the supply infrastructure Walmart has in place. People say Amazon is going to end up shutting Walmart down. Nah. Walmarts ain't shifted into the upper gears. Yet. With this grocery pick up, pick up today, and ship to stores, plus their supply line, they're getting their ducks in order. And when they're ready? Oh boy. We gonna see some mess. Like waking a sleeping bear.

And the best part about breaking down, not only are they going to work hard to get you moving again but youll switch to hourly pay from the minute you begin 'downtime'

Yup, heard that too. Went to a Walmart driver in need not too long ago driver told me don't hurry yourself, I'm getting paid by the hour. And quite nicely, if I'm not mistaken? When it comes to Walmart, they usually pay me right at 1.75 times the normal rate. Especially if they've already got another driver there or on the way to get that trailer. Time is money.

Most of the time, we charge a flat rate to come out, and a by the mile rate after 25 miles. And that's from when the engine cranks. I have a service contract with Walmart's fleet services and they outright pay the milage, including the first 25. They pay on a 6 month basis for us, lump sum. Let's just say I'd have to respond to a Walmart truck some 200 times or so in that six months to equal that lump sum if we were charging by the service. That 1.75 the normal rate I mentioned is the miles flat rate.

Let's just say that Walmart money is good money to me ;)
