Yeah. I have heard that we're supposedly getting auto's, but I haven't seen them yet. Out of the 190+ trucks we have here, only 1 is an automatic. And it's a 3,000,000 milers truck.

That's why my company now is buying nothing but autos, because so many now are coming out with the restriction on their license. I think it's a disgrace. If you like auto's and that's all you want to drive that's fine. But as a professional, you should be able to operate any vehicle that could come with the job you want. IDK, why anyone would want to limit themselves in their chosen career.

Because much of my 18 year career has been( up until now) over the road: ( I actually live in the Pacific Northwest) i cant imagine having good control of my truck with an automatic while doing the mountains in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, California, Washington.. etc.... I might be wrong; heck; I often am; , but......... :)

When you dumb down the job, you inevitably wind up with dumber people doing the job.

It's not quite the same, but you learn to outsmart the computer and make it work. Still not as good but it's doable. I run out there as well and I have to listen to the truck beep at me the whole time I'm in manual mode, but hey, I don't own it, I just try to drive it the best I can.

I can drive automatics, manuals (not Manuel’s), straight trucks, box trucks, straight truck w/job site forklift on the tail to unload myself at the job site, a drywall “knuckle” boom truck, a crane with 61’ of main stick w/winch and weighted hook, etc.
But I’ve become accustomed to my automatic.

The ACLU might have something to say if you want to drive a Manuel. LOL
