The best paying freight is light weight.

Last week a 4 pound box 250 miles $800 on Friday. Tuesday I had 2 boxes going 247 miles paying $950 I used the pickup only. Both were ASAP That is not everyday loads but an example of light loads paying the best.

Save money and buy a newer truck. An older one like you mentioned will slowly put you out of business.
