Loaded, or all miles? And does that include your fuel surcharge? Look at your settlement and tell me what it says for “both miles”.That’s your rate per mile, and I guarantee you it isn’t two dollars or higher. Also, rate per mile doesn’t really matter that much. It’s rate per day and week that really matter. If I grossed $5000 in a week at Prime, I jumped for joy, and usually it was only because I had a load that I carried in the previous week that paid off in the current week. That would be the bare minimum at a grown-up trucking company.

How can you gross more than $5,000 when your truck isn't reliable enough to stay out of the shop long enough to habitualy produce solid #'s. I never heard back from you in your Lemon thread, has that truck taken you out of business?

I don’t remember offhand what comment you made in the lemon thread. To answer your question here, I’ve had plenty of weeks where I ran all week. Even having two months of downtime, that’s like saying unemployment went from 3% to 7%. That means 93% of the labor market is gainfully employed. It may feel overall like the economy is sluggish, but that doesn’t mean the whole country goes broke. Same for the trucking business. Two months of downtime out of six might mean the difference between turning a profit and not this year, but it would be an error to assume that the mechanical problems of one operator have any bearing on what kind of rates are available at a given carrier. My rate never went higher than $1.65 for all miles at Prime.

I went back and looked… there is been a lot of conversation after your couple of posts. I’m not sure which post you were expecting a reply on.
