Just getting my truck back today!!!
I did go ahead and put a Borg Warner stage 1 turbo and bully dog ceramic exhaust manifold on there. It sounds just like my old 12.7!! -
VG turbos and waste gate turbos fail far more frequently than assymetric turbos. That is one of the reasons I yanked the waste gate turbo off my factory remanned Detroit 60 and put a BG 171702 assymetric turbo on. 913,000 miles on this turbo and nary a problem. I never replaced the assymetric turbo on my 1995 Cummins N-14 and it got sold at 1.4 million miles. Again, turbo was just fine. Truck went right to work for next owner.
Roberts450, QUALITYTRUCK, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -
Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I’ve only driven about 160 miles with it but I notice with this turbo has a lot more lag than the 14l turbo. And it seems that the power really kicks in about 1300 rpms......
