    Umm... no, it is not.

This is an example of why you shouldn't take drugs and drive... you might lock yourself out of your truck.

ELDs were something the Industry was going to have forced on them sooner or later.

Personally I don't particularly care as long I have the trusty paper recap ready to go at any time last 8 days should ELD crap out.

The example you referenced was older news from about less than a year ago. Keep in mind some of us don't need drugs other than coffee and smoking to get across the USA without rest. Sleep next week was the mantra back then.

Later in my trucking time, Ive gone the other way. When it's time to stop. That truck is going to stop. If the dispatch has a problem with that they are not in the correct industry. The ultimate work around is going Team. That truck don't stop much each day, a few hours at best if that.

Ive been locked out of my own truck before. However spare keys takes care of that problem and in one particular model year, hitting the door above the handle unlocked it.

Of course, since you came off the road in 2001, you've never run elogs, so you don't need your trusty paper recap either, do ya?

No, this is the reason why they don't let us use lsd and drive.

Last time I locked myself out of my truck, it was too cold to get mad. All I could do was wait on the locksmith the truckstop called for me.

Yes, I locked myself out without coat or phone :/ I have spares everywhere now

The unlock button is located at the vent window, easy to spring open a bit and insert wire hanger end to activate unlock on the trucks I drove a few years back. Very handy when locked out. Now, not so easy.
