I am starting to get the owner operator bug and looking at Miller. Do you know how there O/Os are doing. That is all they have in Savannah. I am glad you are enjoying your stint with Miller

Just thought I would pass along that today miller transport laid off
    50% of it's company drivers..
    1/3 of it's O/O's

Not sure why really but talked to a miller driver today ... He wasn't sure if it was a business loss or??

They are not folding up though still running .. __________________

Miller laid off 15 % of their lease operators and to the best of my knowledge no company drivers as they are union.
The guys who were laid off were flagrant log abusers, had a lot of customer service failures and new hires.
We are living in tough times and after loosing a large account by refusing to cut rates they chose to cull the herd at their discretion rather than loose any of their productive conscientious workers.

Well being a O/O is a dream, Dreams are what make life tolerable. I have roughly 20 years left in my working career. In the mean time I will continue to dream

    THIS WRONG,WRONG WRONG
MILLER HAS A HIRING FREEZE ON RIGHT NOW,, WE DID LAY OFF 15% OF OWNER/OPERATORS THE ONES LAID OFF WERE BAD APPLES ,SERVICE FAILURES, CHEATING ON LOG'S ETC,"NO COMPANY DRIVERS HAVE BEEN LAID OFF"
MILLER PAYS COMPANY DRIVER A DIFFERENT RATE LOADED/M/T CAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE TEAMSTERS WANTED, YOU ONLY HAVE 25 % TO 30 % M/T MILES,
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING 30 YEARS, THE LAST 5+ WITH MILLER, AND I HAVE BEEN WITH SOME OF BEST, BUT MILLER TRANSPOTERS IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER BEEN, AS A O/O I GET PAID LAID OVER,DELAY IN DISPATCH, EXCESS LOADING/UNLOADING ETC, I GET FOR EVERTHING I DO, ,,THANKS AND GOOD DAY,"SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS"

    explain this then!!!!!!!!!!
Why as a truck comes in at various terminals are they letting drivers go. The trucks in the system are running till they get back in...

    Don't kid yourself ...

The numbers won't be completely out till a few days or so as the trucks come in...

The EXXON account loss hurt you guys ...

Interesting to note that you drive for Superior one of our competitors.
I think you heard a rumor and gleefully expounded on it.
There were not any company drivers laid off so I know that one of our company drivers didn't give you these numbers.
The 15% of the lease operators that were laid off have already left the company. This is old news and the sky is not falling.
In spite of posting record profits Exxon wanted us to drop our rates and to their credit Miller refused to do so.
It took 4 other tanker companies to replace us and I really doubt that they will receive the same quality of service they have become accustomed to.

kentucky24 are you smoking something ? 2 owner/operators from Miller have told you the truth about the guys who got laid off, I am also on a o/o's board with the company so I know what i am talking about stop the paranoia !!!
Miller stood buy their guns and refused to cut rates for a company that post record profits in good and bad times, glad i am not leased to a cheap -o-rate cutter!!
