Protest was a BIG FLOP , his 200 + trucks that were to be on hand turned out to be around 15 ( 1 report was 10 other was 20 ).

If you have a reputable shop, and your account is paid up-to-date, the next time they do a download for a warranty issue, they in most cases will be happy to reset the OTR max speeds for you at no charge.
My dealer, if they are going into the ECM anyway they ask me if there are any parameters that I would like changed.

    At JGWhtmn:

A good point. The owner of my current carrier's considering another interesting option for company equipment: a GPS-based ECM mod that adjusts the the ECM settings upon crossing a specified boundary. In this case, the maximum speed perimeter is adjusted upon leaving the Ontario-Quebec jurisdiction. He claims the manufacturer guarantees the product by paying all non-compliance fines stemming from operating with the wrong location setting. Unfortunately, he never told me the product name and I can't find it. It costs about $400 per truck. Amusingly, it would seem to allow for a more subtle form of satellite tracking on certain drivers, which is funny to me because at the moment he has none. I think he has dual intentions with this product.

It was a little comical, wasn't it? CTV reports only ten trucks parked outside Queens Park in Toronto, ON. When the farmers protested a few years ago, they packed Queens Park with their equipment, but Hawkeye001 & Co. only cobbled together a handful of trucks.

The Toronto Star article "Truck Protest Fizzles..." captured the moment best, I think. More interestingly, however, it's been quite an amusing forum for the public to vent at the truck drivers for having the audacity to pressure government to allow them to drive faster than 105kph.

I joked with a friend this afternoon that the protest probably did a better job advertising the speed-limiter legislation and thereby actually building more public support for it, making Hawkeye001's single step forward a comical two-step back.

Yes it was comical seeing the tv report , also for hearing the guy who ( going to be the HERO:biggrin_25518: ) arranged the protest listing all the reasons for the poor turn out.

Ran a load into Ontario yesterday still no MAJOR traffic tying up convoys of SLOW trucks , majority were running at or below the posted 100KPH / 60 MPH .

Heard a few CB RAMBOS voicing :biggrin_2551:what they would do if THEY OWNED the TRUCK they were driving.

I'm not against speed limiters because i think truckers should be allowed to race up and down the highway, when im driving I drive at the speed limit. I'm against them because the government has no business in my truck. I have no moving violations in a commercial vehicle ever not so much as a parking ticket so why are they forcing me to stay under 105. If you allow them to take away your rights one at time like this it won't be long untill you have none left. (trucking is already one of the most regulated industry there is) I'm not one of these people that think there will be 5 mile long line ups on the 401 because trucks are slowed down either. I think the wrong people are organizing these "protests" and going about it the wrong way, the media will always go talk to the one truck driver that looks like he hasn't shaved or washed his clothes in a week and then people watching on tv say look at those d#mn truckers they look like a bunch of hobos why should we listen to them.

I noticed that as well its either the homeless looking or the I am RICH and do this as a HOBBY trucker both of which portrays the wrong image.

Same as when a TORNADO hits they go to the Guy from the trailer park ( looks like Hank Hills Nieces Husband ) that has lost 6 double wides from the same location.

I agree with the info you posted , like us you have no say in what the Goverment impliments regardless of who we vote for , once they get in they forget who got them in.

Sorry, but I never cease to be amazed by drivers who fail to realize that the truck they're driving is a commercial vehicle and consequently is subject to greater regulation and liability than personal vehicles. More plainly, the government has quite a lot of business in your truck. If you want to revel in the paradise that is a poorly regulated and unenforced transportation sector, I encourage you to go haul freight in a third world country.

Regarding your rights, please realize that your rights in this case are detailed in the human rights code (as a human being) available on-line, and in the worker's rights code (as a human being exchanging labour for profit) which is contained in that little green 1 1/2"-thick book that nobody reads. I challenge you to find a single piece of transport regulation that contradicts the contents of either document.

If OPP did their job enforcing speed limits there would be no excuse for speed limiters . I drive in Ontario often and OPP is the most pathetic excuse for law enforcement I have ever seen .
Why should commercial vehicles be subject to greater liability when most accidents are caused by 4 wheelers driving like maniacs ? Again , with all my driving experience I have to say drivers in the GTA (greater Toronto area) are the worst I see anywhere . I've seen OPP parked on the shoulder of the 401 ignore 4 wheelers that jump out of the right lane , speed up an on ramp , then cut right in front of a truck .

I was passed by a " SCHOOL BUS " this morning HWY 417 west of Ottawa, 100 KPH zone , he was doing well over 140 KPH , guy leading us to the delivery site was in a pickup and he sped up to see how fast the bus was going, then backed off at 140 KPH bus was pulling away from him.

Easily had 25 various vehicles blow then VANISH by 3 of us running right at 100 KPH as if we were parked on the stretch from Ottawa to Arnprior were we delivered. Had others pass then get back in front a few KPH faster than we were running.

Coming back down HWY 416 OPP was under an overpass , 3 cars blew by us well over the 100 KPH he never even looked at them.
