For the sake of discussion not argument, when a company refuses to adjust to the maket trends and looses a job to a competitor do they stand a chance nowadays??I dont advocate running cheap freight but are we at the point"first one to the bottom"?? With volumes being so low now, how can you compete with companies that will do the jobs cheaper? How do we stop the trend??

great post, what we need to do is stick to our guns are co$t haven't gone down any except fuel and the fsc covers that, So why lower your rates to a sub-standard level, WE did enact a rate incress are decress same price, as 06 contract, Yet it took 4 count them 4 comanys to fill our shoes, Exxon is a pain in the butt ,can arrive 15 minutes early to load,no sooner, 0 late, you do most of the work they just push buttons, and will reject a tank for any little thing, to get out of not loading you , also since this has happened we are busy again, so thanks exxon

I hear what you are saying,I have been watching the rates on hauling cars go down the drain! I would be ashamed to post how cheap some of these outfits are paying to move cars!! The prices of goods hasnt dropped signifacantly so why are the rates? Have you priced a new truck/trailer lately??

Volvo announced the other day that the price of their trucks with the new 2010 engine will jump close to $10,000.00

I am looking at becoming an O/O in a few years. Right now I am a gas hauler for Eagle Transport ( darn good Company). I am leaning on staying with tanks, and Miller would be my top choice. How are the O/Os doing across the board with Miller? The only thing I don't like about Miller is they go into the Port of Savannah, and pick up those container tanks a lot. I cannot say enough bad things about the Port of Savannah

I did $1.75/mile with Miller last year.
That's all miles off of the odometer after Miller has already taken their cut.
This figure includes fsc, accessorials etc.
They are a very good company and once the economy rebounds they would be a good choice to start your career as an owner operator if that's what you want. They have a truck purchase plan with $0.00 down and reasonable interest rates for a 36 month term with no buyout.
Title is in your name and they hold it until truck is paid for same as any bank would. They supply the pump, in-transit heat & air off hookups for free.

I have been checking out there trucks for sale on there Web Site they want 50,000 for like an 04 International. Is that with the pumps already installed ?
Like I said I can't say enough bad things about the Port of Savannah, Do you ever go in there?

I'm based out of the Orangeburg, SC. terminal and have never been sent to the Savannah port though I have seen containor tanks in our Savannah yard. Miller installs and maintains the pumps for free on any lease operators truck whether he buys the truck from them or already owns one.
The pump remains their property and is removed if you leave the company.
