New O/O pulling containers

Curious when you say you have $43k to show for your work. Is that your net income after expenses and before taxes. Or that is what your business. Has managed to save, or profit after paying all expanses including paying yourself?
Last week being the 48th week of this year.
I would say $43,000÷48= $895.83. As much as I would absolutely LOVE to be home most or every night. Couldnt afford it making that kind of money. Buy i live in new england and not N.C.

 

What do the company guys get paid?

 

What matters is if it works for you. I know guys who can gross $12k a week and that's the kind of money they have to make to make it worthwhile and guys who make the kind of money you make and are completely happy. At the numbers your showing your basically buying yourself a job. After true expenses and risk you would be better off with a good company job with the money your grossing ,and not have to worry about the hassle of owning a truck.That might not make you happy and owning your own rig and being home almost every night is more important . Also you are retired military (Thank You for your service), and having a military pension also supplements your income ,as the area you live in isn't a super high cost of living area,so you might be well ahead with your situation than a guy grossing a lot more . Pulling containers has never been a high grossing gig,but it usually will get you home everyday if you can deal with the hassles of dealing with the ports every day. We do $7k a week on average and home almost every night ,but our expenses are higher,and we run about 500 miles a day,grossing 107k lbs. only half the miles are loaded . I know car haulers that do well over $10k a week,but a lot more BS ,and equipment cost involved and not usually home evernight. To me being home every night (almost) is priceless , I want to see my girls grow up,eat dinner with my family at my dinner table,play with my Bulldogs and sit on my front porch and watch the sunset over our property with my wife..Theres no dollar figure that can replace that to me,but everyone is different and has a situation that works for them.
