A: This is your version, as told by him.
B: He is the captain of that truck. Tell him pull the plug.
Now more likely what happened is they did not close the DC so he feels like he should roll. The call is his and his alone. If anyone, wait let me repeat that so you understand what I am saying. If anyone in this company told him to go drive they just promoted themselves to customer.
It is a breach of policy to order a driver to drive. No one in this company should, or to my knowledge ever has, ordered anyone to drive during weather.
In addition this is not the storm of the millennium or whatever the numnuts on tv are calling it. Plenty of folks out running. However if he feels it is unsafe for him pop the brakes and do not move. Please have him clear the roadway first and find a safe secure location to park.

Our warehouse is "open" but they arent ahipping anything. One of the managers here had the nerve to tell one of our drivers he wasnt a real truck driver after asking if he could deliver to mt. Airy. I wish i was here when that was said. The driver has been deiving longer than 20 years...its not about wanting to drive in this. DOT doesnt have the resources for this kind of storm. The roads are not driveable....some people just dont get it.

We have discussed his right and responsibility in making the call to be out in this or not. I can see people getting upset that their loved ones feel pressured into a situation. It need not happen here.
End of drama.truckdriver31, TheFriscoKid and laaylor Thank this. -
To me it means I took a look at the roads, and then made the call. And I get paid until I decide the roads are navigabletruckdriver31 Thanks this. -

Frankly..the drivers are the "captain of their ship"...it's the driver's sole discretion about driving in severe weather conditions...like the snowstorm this past weekend in the carolinas, it's better to get their late than never get there at all..im sure walmart is like other companies who would rather their stuff be late than in the ditch if it can't get there as scheduled..
