"retirement" companies that offer the best in return?

    It seems as though there's dozens or more posts about the best companies to start your career with. That horse is already dead and thoroughly beaten. But, given the joy I get from researching future options, I have a different question...

    What are some companies that are "retirement" or "career goal" companies? The kind of places that require experience and a good record, but offers the best in return? We all know the starter companies aren't the ideal place to put in decades, and not everyone is cut out to be an o/o.

    Maybe this has been handled repeatedly here... But I haven't seen it.

    What kind of money and benefits are reasonable for an experienced and skilled driver to receive?

    Goal setting is important to me so it seems worth asking

    I'm not sure there are many non-union driving jobs left where a driver gets vested after 20 + years. Most have moved to 401Ks. If I were just starting out again I would have the goal of working toward a unionized LTL job.

    Wal-Mart. $86,000.00 to $90,000.00 average for the first year. No touch freight. 401 K. Do your resets at home.

    Depend on yourself to have a comfortable retirement. With your first job, start investing with some type of retirement plan and don't depend on a trucking company, other than whatever plan they have. The trucking company plan should only be a supplement to your own plan.
    Don't constantly stay in debt with fancy cars and other toys.

    Along those lines, if I had to do over again I would go ready mix. In my area they are all union. Good pay, great bennies, pension (provided it's still solvent when you need it).

    Provided you could survive the first few years until you build up enough time to work most of the season.

    Maybe I was somewhat unclear. But thanks for the response regardless!

    What I meant is companies that are "career worthy" at which one would stay long term until retirement

    UPS feeder driver. The parcel side is good from what I hear. Stay away from UPS freight is what I have been told.

    If you go ODFL or UPS see if you can get stock options. That UPS one pays a good dividend.
