There are two type of guys in this industry when it comes to being an owner operator. I don’t mentuin the lease purchase guys, they’re rookies for life IMHO.
Owner operators get more money and get to make decision more than a “company driver”.
However, most owner operators make poor decision. What I mean by this is a lot try to take short cuts, such as being cheap on maintenance which potentially messes up their safety record, but also their truck which down the road costs more.
Now the biggest one owner operators make a mistake with is believing every load needs to make them a certain amount of money. There are companies that are happy to minimize their overhead costs, or even better cover them
