try and stop and let the dog out (on a leash) to do it's business, somme say every 3 hours, some say 4 hours....

if you don;t have a dog now, beware that the inside of that truck is small for 2 people, let alone one driver and a large dog..

take along those pet "accident pads", to keep the truck clean when you cannot stop to let the dog out.

i never took any animal with me, other than a stupid co-driver, om occasion, and they were able to walk themselves......most times.

I’d consider smaller breeds that shed very little if at all. But that’s just me.

A bigger dog is eventually going to develop joint and strength problems in their senior years [if not sooner] requiring you assist them in and out. A small dog may not be able to jump that far but they are easy to handle and lift from day one ... kinda like a petite woman.

Look for a company that allows pets.

Thanks, I forgot about the shedding issue. Thinking a pug, a Boston or a french bulldog; they don't shed much.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Rent them by the half hour. Its cheaper and less problems.

A year or so ago, I was thinking about doing some laundry at a truck stop. Doing recon, I observed a guy with a blanket that could easily have had enough black dog hair to fill a paper sack-lunch bag. I didn't do laundry that day.
