So far I'm doing good running on the reefer side. Been running back and forth to cali. One of my least favorite states to go. But the miles out there have been 1500-1700. And coming out around the same. I'm sitting around 1800-1900 take home. No major complaints. Get my load and go. No headaches from dispatch. Could I be making more somewhere else sure. But I'm doing just fine. No wife no kids so my bills are very minimum. After a year I can put 5k down and take the truck somewhere else.

1800-1900 sounds sweet when you're a company driver bringing home 800-1100.

    Right on. Sounds good.
Were you running flatbed at first?

Is that $1800-1900 take home after all truck expenses?

While Im sittin here waitin on a load, Im looking at these #'s.

Op's in a truck that has a Im going to assume otd price of 192k. No time limit on the payoff @ .23 cpm plus the $145/wk. So if I did the mathmaticals right on that, he has to run 834k mi to pay for that truck. Plus $7540/yr for every yr he has a payment.

    .23cpm for truck note
.46cpm for fuel (my best wag for a long term average, hopefully better with discounts)
.20cpm for maintenance & repair fund
.55cpm driver pay (that equates to decent pay while keeping more $ available for expenses)
Thats $1.44 operating costs on just fixed costs.

    The $145/wk breaks down to $13.79/day if using a 2k mi/wk average.

I guess if you can average $3+/mi. on freight then I could see it working out but at the end of it, you have a high mi truck, but hopefully a sizeable maintenance fund to cover the big costs coming.

Edit: Crap I forgot insurance! Thats another...what .20cpm give or take?
