Yeah it will take a couple of months on your own for things to slow down and it becomes a very easy job after that. Plus you guys are starting at the perfect time, busy season is basically over and things will be moving at a much slower pace in the next few weeks

    06driver and truckdriver31 Thank this.

    All new guys listen up.

Dont worry about knowing everything in two weeks. Get your mentors number and nothing is unfixable if keyed in wrong.

It always appears there are a million little things you have to do. There are not. Learn the steps of getting hooked up and ready to pull(start trip, load info, check seal, pti) and store protocols(etd next stop, make sure doors closed before hooking to empty etc)

In a month they will be habit. Dont worry about how much your making, who has less or more dwell time, getting an extra stop in.......

Take a deep breath, follow your steps, and this is really important

Don't bend anything. Relax this is not a race, you will not be yelled at if you forget to go off duty, being late is not the end of the world. You are no longer truck drivers. You are Walmart Drivers.

yes yes. remember if you pull away with dock plate in trailer and both doors up. thats 3 steps. people really need to look at the safety step sheet. lots of stuff on there.

    06driver and Katrayher Thank this.

I’ve learned that checking that the dock plate is up; door closed; shine my flashlight to see if there is no paperwork or seal on the handle; then, the very last thing I do is take my hammer and knock underneath the trailer as I walk back towards my truck....you can definitely tell if that trailer is empty that way... saves me pulling out pallet trailers and having to put them back.....when I’m looking for an empty.....works like a charm
