I remember what it's like to be poor and couldn't afford a reliable vehicle. I've never left a car broke down on the side of the interstate. One time I got close, but I was able to drive it off I35 and into a parking lot. That was 2015. Here we are now almost 2019 and my situation is night and day different already.

Renegade Mountain has been trying to be a golf community for many, many years. They don’t really have a lot of property with usable acreage. Plus the road up to it is very steep and large vehicles would have difficult travel. I would not buy here with a truck ( a bus.....maybe, but not a truck, not sure if trucks would be allowed).
A few years ago 4 people were shot in a car. Believe it was a drug related incident. It was big news here considering murders are not common.
Now it is off hwy 70 which is a truck route and there are still some nice properties close by.
I would post a link about murders but I do not know how. Just look up renegade mountains tn murders.
Also stay away from Wilder Mountain community.Last edited: Dec 20, 2018

There are a few homes and homesites. A developer came in and tried to start a POA community. They went bankrupt. The county will not maintain the roads. They are dirt roads on a mountain. The main road washed away a few years ago and it took a long time to get it fixed. It’s not a big mountain but I wouldn’t recommend living there without 4 wheel drive, or a walking stick. -
Thanks for the links and useful info everyone. I will likely stay away from any decent elevation due to the bus (32,000lb w/ 3208 cat and single turbo w/ Allison Transmission) She doesn't like to climb and we don't like to take her downhill,...especially on a loose gravel driveway. I am looking in the Spring City - Ten Mile area...SE TN.

Spring City is nice especially if you like small towns. There’s not much there, but 27 is a truck route and so is 68. There is a nice little truck stop on 68 before the climb. They close at night, but the store and lit are clean.

Thanks. I have a friend moving to Spring City when he retires. I had family up in Madisonville and Greenback. I love to visit the mountains but don't necessarily want to live on one.
Eowyn Thanks this. -
Eventually some developer will get it right and that's when prices will skyrocket.
Gatorgrl Thanks this. -
Well they were from Crab Orchard ( area known for meth heads) which is just down the road. There is no security and no usable golf course at this time, and the ski lift is not operational.
Someone may get it right, but it’s gone through 3 or 4 owners. They do have houses and condos for real cheap.
My mom bought a condo there for about $30,000 and sold it for $45,000 right before it started going down hill again.
