Leaving previous DOT employers off applications

The fuel dying episode takes me way back. It's related to motor fuel payment of taxes on fuel. As I understand it, red fuel means you cannot continue to stay in business should you be caught with it.

 

When you go to work for a company and you sign that app, you are giving them the authority to run whatever kind of report on you they feel they need to run. A comprehensive Background Report will probably tell them more about you than you know yourself? Dont believe it? Go to one of these background report websites and run a report on yourself. knowx.com used to be a good one.

 

It should not be that drastic. I do remember about 15 or so years ago watching a driver get caught with red fuel at one of the Kentucky scales. He left the scales in handcuffs. The biggest problem with that crap is it leaves that red dye all inside the fuel system. I have heard (not confirmed and I'm not a diesel mechanic) that the dye can also cause problems with these new engines. In the case I wrote about the business uses yard equipment like loaders etc and they use red fuel in those as well as heating the water to batch concrete in the cold. The IRS inspectors are not as anal with those checks if red fuel is not used on the property.

 

Another one is zabasearch. They listed most all of my jobs.

 

Georgia used to be bad about checking that fuel.

 

Back in the days when the Georgia Public Service Commision did truck safety one of their officers was a close family friend. He told me that when he stopped a driver he always opened the tank with a flashlight and could see if the fuel was red.

 

Yea back when they first opened that Lithia Springs Scale, GPSC used to hang out in there a lot checking the fuel. I lived about 3 miles from that scale and Id go by it a lot and they would be in there checking.

Just as an interesting note: that little road behind that scale is where part of that movie "Black Dog" with Patrick Swayze, Randy Travis and Meatloaf was filmed.

Hm. I recall the film.

The plot itself was what I would call low brow escapist. But Saluda I think was where the stunts involving the mobile home was done pretty well. They could make a much better trucking film than that. But the reality is trucking is not that difficult. Anyone can do it.
